Director of Analysis
Shape Tavion’s BESS strategy with rigorous power-market analysis, valuation models, and insights that drive smarter offtake negotiations and investment decisions.
Role Description
The Director of Analysis will be the analytical backbone behind Tavion’s BESS offtake negotiations, supporting the CRO with rigorous, reliable, and insightful numbers throughout the company. The role combines deep power market expertise with hands-on quantitative modelling to reinforce Tavion’s internal view on market drivers and fair values. This is to support the BESS offtake agreements negotiation, as well as to make informed decisions about Tavion’s future markets.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain fair-value models for BESS offtake agreements across active markets, decomposing the value of each revenue stream — ancillary services, day-ahead, intraday, capacity market — and recommending the optimal Flexibility Purchase Agreement structure (floor, toll, day-ahead swap) for each negotiation.
Drive and manage, in a live manner, the choice of price curve used by Tavion for its investments and financings — acting as a strategic partner to curve providers (Aurora, Clean Horizon, Afry, Baringa), understanding and challenging their assumptions, and building Tavion's own internal forward view.
Rigorously challenge and stress-test prices quoted to Tavion by BESS off takers, building the evidence base to push back where quotes diverge from fair value.
Continuously monitor and interpret Polish power market, staying on top of price signals, volatility drivers, and regulatory shifts as they happen.
Act as a proactive thought partner to the CRO and wider Revenue team, surfacing risks, opportunities, and recommendations ahead of being asked.
Contribute directly to negotiation strategy by translating market analysis into clear, actionable positions the CRO can use at the table.
Maintain and continuously improve core market metrics and dashboards, giving the Revenue team timely, self-serve access to the data they need.
Partner with the CRO and Chief Strategy Officer to evaluate new geographic markets for potential investment, identifying the key economic and regulatory drivers.
Qualifications
At least 5 years of power market expertise, with a strong Analyst/Quant background – ideally prior experience on a pricing or trading desk at a major utility or energy trading house.
Proven expertise in power market fundamentals: day-ahead, intraday, aFRR, mFRR, FCR, and capacity market mechanics – ideally across multiple European markets, with Poland a strong plus.
Experience valuing or structuring BESS offtake over long-term deals (e.g. floor, toll, day-ahead swap structures) is highly desirable.
Strong financial/quantitative modelling skills (Excel/Python/similar) with the ability to build and maintain robust valuation models.
Ability to work directly with, and communicate confidently to, senior stakeholders (C-suite, investors and board members).
Fluency in English required; Polish a strong plus given market focus.

Deeply analytical – digs beyond headline numbers to understand what is really driving them.

A clear communicator – translates complex market dynamics into simple, decision-useful insights for non-quants.
Confident and rigorous – challenges counterparties’ numbers (incl. curve providers) and internal assumptions always backed by solid analysis.
Passionate about power markets – follows market news and price moves as a matter of habit and shares insights with the team.
